Yule Visit

Most couldn't make it for November and December was too close to Christmas, hence the new Yule get together.  It was very festive and everyone went all out on the pot luck.  Lots to eat, treats, and a new challenge thanks to M.A. and Gwen.

Here we are modeling the knitted wrist warmers from Kathy.

Dianne was binding her holiday quilt.

And Fran presented her LTG blocks all together.  Borders come next but she is the first to present a top!
The next time we convene it will be back to Amish Land and the Great Jelly Roll Race with a twist.
Until then we wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year!

Holiday time

We gathered early this month and all but Lori and Ruth were there.  We missed them and talked about them.  Lynnee was unexpectedly late and we were both worried and hungry as she is out breakfast lady. So much good food and laughter.
There were some lovely gifts, a challenge thrown down and a mystery package left for Syd.
Another year gone and many more to look forward to for the Divas.
 2020. Who would have thought?
I am sure Susie will put up pictures. Fran seems to have finished the Kingswell piece. Almost ready to quilt. It is beautiful.
Other pieces being bound. Talk of the future.
On to the next decade. See you there.

It's The BIG One!

We had a very special get together yesterday.  Lori was in town.  We went to a very nice restaurant that had real napkins and tablecloths.  And since we all were in the same place at the same time, we presented Mary Ann with a milestone birthday present.

This was definitely a group effort that was started last spring.  It went from Diva to Diva to get the quilt done.  They laid out the border while we went to Vito's retirement party and I kept Lynn posted on our ETA back at the retreat!  I'm just amazed we didn't accidentally spill the beans ahead of time.

October

October, such a meeting it was.  We were few in number and no one was there to take pictures so you will have to trust me. It was sunny but a bit cool.
We talked about Judy and the fantastic things she used to bring for lunch on the holidays, especially Halloween.  One year we had our meeting at her house and all brought Halloween themed foods. It was really a lot of fun.
We had a fantastic lunch this time as well. Jan was not there and we knew she would not be but no one brought a green salad anyway.  It was kind of a carb celebration. Two kinds of mac and cheese. Syd hid sweet potatoes in hers to make it more healthy. Street tacos, quiche and wonderful  dessert, of course breakfast by Lynn, with a lemon celo twist this time.
So much binding going on. Dianne and her winter wonderland piece, Gwen bound a piece for the show. MaryAnn was as well, the challenge piece she was not going to do. Syd finished a least one, maybe two. A jelly roll and a beach blanket. Lynn spent the time putting a new crotch in a meerkat costume.
We discussed old times, looked at Syd's wedding photos, discussed our own weddings and dresses. Times when we were young and foolish.
We missed everyone there, all of whom were with family on this Sweetest Day. We talked smack about you too. Even if we had to make that stuff up.
Halloween, a time to look back and a time to look to the future.

September

A quick post to catch up.  We were sitting around the kitchen table, which turns out to be our favorite spot to hang and catch up on hand work at Syd's.

Dianne did bring the baby quilt from the last post to finish the binding.  It's a really clever use of the print.  The print on the edges made up the border and the center was used for the background.
M.A. is working on the many, many circles from the Marshall QAL.

Syd's finishing the binding on her quest to turn all those unfinished tops into quilts.
Lynn was showing the neatest paper pieced Halloween quilt.  We even liked the back!

I was doing some counted cross stitch.  What was old is new again.
And Gwen's got another LTG block done.

I

If It's August it Must Be Amish Land

The Diva's headed back to Amish land for their semi-annual get together. The weekend went by quick, and I procrastinated putting this together, the details are going to be a bit fuzzy.

Jan's tried and true way to measure the triple four-patch blocks to make sure the quilt is long enough. This block is her signature design. I think we are up to six rounds of friendship blocks.

Lori was with us. Her work schedule coincided perfectly (and the rental car didn't misbehave). The LTG blocks were turning out really well and I was impressed on her box of neatly cut strips.

Fran was also working on LTG using her stash of 30's fabrics on a muslin background. This is going to be one sweet quilt. And she might be the first to finish.
Syd was giving up tips on the Atomic quilt.  A couple of us have the pattern and she found a better way to paper piece.

And got this one put together.
Kathy was busy with getting her blocks together into tops and pulled off a charity quilt too.

Lynn had many blocks finished before the weekend was over.

Dianne was working on another quilt in the baby series. I thought I had a picture of the complete top but alas . . . . Maybe she will be binding at the next together so I can capture the entire quilt.

And our angel was with us.
M.A. and Gwen were working on a Deb Tucker ruler Wildwood class project.

Divas feel free to add what was missed.

July

We were hiding out from the heat around Syd's kitchen table.

Dianne, Fran & Lynn had other plans so, of course, we talked about them! 😇

Kathy finished her "Gifts So Special" for the Wildwood Quilt Show in November.

And M.A. was finishing up the binding on hers while Gwen was embroidering away - she didn't want it photographed until it was further along.

Syd and Jan were doing the hand sewing on one of Syd's jelly roll race quilts.  Syd's on a mission to finish those tops.

And M.A. made these Sew Together Bags with Gwen being gifted one of them.  Since M.A's got these figured out we volunteered her to make all the Diva's one!

More progress on LTG.

Kathy let me know if missed anything.

We're Back!

After a short hiatus we got back together in June to share a toast and catch-up on what everyone was up to.  Progress was made on some LTG blocks.

Dianne was making another baby quilt in her on-going series.  And this one was reversible too!

And best of all we surprised Gwen with a gift on her very special birthday.
