A few more pics from July gathering of Basement Diva

I didn't bring anything to work on today. I just wandered around sticking my nose into everything but I didn 't really do anything but take pictures.

The collaborative quilt is now a flimsy and looking good thanks to Diane's work on the borders

Suzie is still working on her circle quilt and will add a ring of pink and a red center

Maryann's  circle quilt is now a flimsy

Lori's paper pieced show and tell with some of the quilting done

Fran's Jellyroll Race quilt is ready for borders

Kathy is contemplating the final ? arrangement

Two close ups of Gwen's Halloween quilt.

August will be the end or our circle challenge. We won't be meeting in September due to the number of other quilting events that will be going on locally. In September we will be starting on a new challenge, there was some talk of black and white and one color; rules were discussed  at lunch time and will be discussed again (and probably changed a couple of times after that).
There was also some talk of another collaborative quilt which will be discussed later to see who is interested and what we want to do.

That time when Susie saved the day

I don't know about everyone else but, when I'm ready to put together a top that has a lot of blocks and I realize I need just a few more ... that's enough to derail me for years.  Literally.  Earlier today as we laid out the blocks for the Trip Around the World, we were missing 5 blocks and we had Syd's strip sets for 3.  It didn't make sense because we all know that Syd is always covered in the math department.  If I had been alone, I would have boxed them up for a rainy day.  Luckily, Susie was there and noticed that we had several stacked on top of each other.  We did only need three!!!!  Thanks for actually paying attention, Susie.

We had a great day.  Everyone was energized and busy with their projects or giving advice when it was needed.

I'm still struggling with the focus tweaks on my phone camera but I got a couple of shots that aren't blurry.

Speaking of blurry, this was only the beginning of rearranging the friendship blocks, a few minutes before we were all completely cross-eyed.  It is going to be beautiful.

Here's a shot of Lynn's circle inspiration designs.

I didn't have a great vantage point for the photo but Gwen's Halloween quilt is stunning.  We were all coveting it.

Dianne pieced the border and then completed the improv top.  I'm so glad to see it come to fruition.  There was also talk of lovely chartreuse free motion quilting.

It looks like the third Saturday in August is the 18th.  Hope to see you there for our circle finale.  Thanks everyone for keeping up the energy and inspiration.

Kathy, I have your ruler and, Susie, I have your box-o-stuff.  I'll bring them to QDP on Monday in case you are there.

July Divas

Wow, I forgot my camera. We were down by Syd, Laura, Judy and Jan. In spite of the loss a fine time was had.
Let's see...
I don't know exactly what Ruth did. She was giving a lot of direction.
Dianne finished the borders on the collaborative quilt..stunning.
Fran worked on both her bargellgraphix and her jelly roll.
Susie worked on a really lovely Dresden Plate.
Maryann had her circle piece to show. fresh of the fusing board and was busy as a little Bernstein Bear making her Wildwood piece.
Gwen had her Halloween masterpiece to show and was working away on an insane crisp contrast split star.
Lori is almost done with the quilting on her paper pieced quilt.
Lynn had the paper mock up of her circle piece.
Kathy and Lori dithered a bit and finally got the last 3 blocks for the Tina quilt done thanks to Syd's strip sets. The quilt got laid out while Lori sewed and much discussion on placement was had. Then came a plan to pick the pieces up so that the order was maintained. There is a "fool proof" plan that involves letters and numbers on stickers.
Lunch was summer fantastic. Lots of great salads and such. I think there was a bottle of wind open some place.
I know Ruth was taking pictures. I hope they don't prove me a liar.
Mike and Brady were great hosts and food testers.
Next challenge will involve black and white. And other stuff.
We meet again in Aug but not Sept.
A day better than any therapy.
