November meeting

We met on the 16th and we started out with an array of post breakfast food. Several kinds of muffins, small bread slices with spreads and a veggie tray with dips.
Judy likes to personalize her food contributions. We decided the veggie tray was a great color scheme for a quilt.

There was not a lot of machine sewing going on but there were some  people working on their quilts. Suzie was re-layering her church dash made fabric piece. She decided she wanted a different batting. Judy was planning her Mary Ellen Hopkins quilt. You can see the pattern she is planning to use in the book along with her fabrics. It will be colorful and lively, like Judy. Maryann was working on an advent calendar with Suzie and Gwen looking on.

We had some show and tell as well. Kathy brought her Stack and Whack flimsy. It was her UFO commitment to finish.
Lori has been working on this little Halloween project. She questions whether this is what she should be doing at this time with Halloween come and gone and Christmas coming soon. Sometimes working on something that is just plain fun is what we need to do.

There was a lot of talking and laughter, as usual.

I didn't work on a thing except to consult with Judy and get some good advice about embellishments for my giraffe wall hanging. I brought along a red work piece that has been 15 to 20  years in the making. I spent an hour locating it Friday evening but never even got it out.

I did acquire this nice big piece of "made fabric" from Fran; she says making fabric is not her thing. That worked out well for me because I love to work with "made fabric". I plan to cut it up and make some Anvil blocks to go with the ones I got at Friendship group last week.

  1. Great summary, Ruth. The turkey was a big hit in our house. Brady held two taste tests--one for each vegetable versus the other and another of just the peppers. Red Pepper won both, to no one's surprise. It always a fun day! I must have vegetables on the brain because I've started to put together the veggie jelly roll that I won at last year's race.
